The Yeti (David Cheng, BIPH)

It might have been a beautiful day;

If we had not waken up,

To find the world in fray.

They could have given her a make up;

Well, who am I to say?

I had rivers behind my eyes,

That with the tears turned dry and grey;

I have mountains under my skin,

That with time started to erode away.

I should have asked for a check up…

Well, who am I to say?

I’ve heard of the battles fought and lost,

I’ve witnessed the dreams fade to dismay;

I’ve seen hopes turned into frost,

That shouldn’t be left to decay.

Well, who am I to say?

If I look up,

There might still be some light, I pray;

But would I not see only clouds’ sway?

——Behind which the sun knows its place.

Well, who am I to say?

person staring up at clouds. storm

I’ve left my eyes behind,

To see the world in a colorless way.

Would it be hues they find?

If not faced with this chaotic face;

Well…who am I? —-To say?
