Down there should be a quote: “In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.” ---William Blake

THE WINTER HARBINGER
Timmy Zhang, BIPH25'
Bright yellow clings to blue light,
Jingling in the starry, dotting winter-veiled sky.
Fluviatile Trees, with a thousand bristling fingers, weave
Bulbs and ribbons beneath the lush green leaves.
Snowflakes, sharp and tight, sparkle fairly with the
Confidence of an immaculate line of teeth—polished and
Proud and brimming among hights.
The wind glistens, swings and swoops and carries
Our spirits high above onto the Olympus, as nature’s eye
Sparkles with alpine delight.
Us, wrapped in cool, fine moist.
Soulbeats thudding like drums attracting an ancient figure:
The Old Grinning Man and his reindeers gliding
Across the sky.
As though Mortals fair from fair sometimes decline,
Be cheerful, fellow players.
Our brevity could be uplifted to essence of joy,
To feast on the music of the great light.
Albert Wang, BIPH26'
“If the history of our shared narrative is a
book, the 24-25 volume of The Mortals invites
you to flip through its unfolding pages, flip
beyond objectification – of stories, identities,
and histories into rigidity, treaty, and monetization –
and beyond doubt – of our stories, our
identities, and our histories.
We invite you to flip to an empty page.”
